EMBEDDING SKILLS – scaffolding academic skills development within the first year – Alejandro Abraham Hamanoiel

Alejandro Abraham Hamanoiel (LCC Journalism and Publishing) developed and embedded approach to developing academic skills for first year journalism students. He designed a staged programme of short skills sessions, set in the context of the theory unit, that aligned a step by step learning of academic skills alongside the content of unit. His research question was centred on testing ways to support increased understanding of academic skills through first year, through embedding skills development within units, supporting attainment and inclusion and developing confidence and competence.
